What's New Wednesday

When I originally started this blog, I reserved Wednesday's for inspirational images.  I used it as a virtual inspirational board of sorts, what was inspiring me, color & print combinations, or outfits I would LOVE to wear.  As time wore on & my time for finding such images decreased, I kinda just chose what to post whenever I had time.  I'd like to get back to a routine of sorts, so I think I'll start sharing 'what's new' with me.  I'll share new arrivals, new activities, & anything new in our life.  It might not always be fashion-related, but my life isn't as fashionable as it once was. I'm kicking off this new weekly post with everything that's new in my closet (even though you've seen all of it by now haha)...

Green Beer

A little quick outfit post from St. Patrick's Day.  We had an amazing, low-key day as a family of four. We watched some March Madness (& busted our brackets), drank some green beers, did a little photo shoot for Sadie's 1st St. Patrick's Day, ran a few errands, & just enjoyed our time together.  The weather was perfect, chilly enough to need a jacket, but warm in the sunshine...

The Big Chop

Am I ever glad I stalked this tunic & hunted down the very last one in my size last year.  It's the perfect piece & I've gotten a ton of use out of it while having the babes.  This time, I wore it to my hair appointment for a big chop & to finally be rid of all things blonde.  It was liberating! for the past two years, my hair was the same shade of blonde...which, I think, is the longest I've ever gone without changing color since high school.  Speaking of high school, I had one of my girlfriends up over the weekend & it was a blast (one I think I'm still recovering from).  She's moving to NY in a few weeks & will only be a few hours from me (instead of 9.5).  We actually collaborated on a post & I'll be sharing it sometime this week...

Adventure Awaits

This mama was in desperate need of adventure, something that was unscheduled & something that involved just me being me.  While in Iowa, I always schedule some time for my best friend.  I take what I can get, as sometimes there are scheduling conflicts.  This time, I was lucky enough to get her for an entire evening.  We set a time & went from there.  Everything was unplanned & we made it up as the night went on.  We found a place to eat in a smaller town than ours & sat at the bar just because we could.  We met another good friend at a bar & talked her into a few extra rounds.  On the way home, we stopped for a night cap.  It was amazing & exactly what I needed.  It's hard to imagine a pre-mama me sometimes & I think, often when we become 'mom', we lose a little bit of who we were pre-mom.  Being a mom is an honor I don't carry lightly & know how incredibly fortunate I am to hold that title, believe me.  I also think we all go through that phase of trying to stay 'me', even though you may not even recognize yourself on some days.  Huge thanks to my bestie for the perfect night out, free of distraction & in the best of company...

So They Say it's Spring...

Two things, right off the bat.  1.) I completely warned you about these ankle boots (equal parts comfy & stylish) & 2.) Happy first day of spring, although it definitely doesn't feel like it over here.  I mean, it's sunny & everything, but we still have a few patches of snow in the backyard.  Needless to say, I'm not fully convinced on Mother Nature's intentions.  I fell trap to the whole 'florals for spring? groundbreaking!' motto, but was forced to layer up & cover my toes.

Photo Friday: A Woodland Animal Themed Baby Shower

Today I'm sharing a few photos (lol, there's a lot) from my sister-in-law's baby shower.  Kinda goes with the whole sharing of what I wore yesterday, right? Any way, this shower was super fun to plan out.  I went with the whole woodland animal theme, but added a lot of moss, candles, & baby's breath for a girly touch (the shower is for the mama-to-be after all).  I really loved how well it turned out! Check out the photos & let me know what you think...

Finally got to use my new letter board (via Target) & I LOVE it! Welcome Forrest Friends!
Take-home gifts were milk cartons filled with trail mix (milk cartons via Michael's).
Table #1 centerpiece.  I used books & stuffy's that could be used for nursery decor as well :)
I ordered these tree round cake stands & pine cone mix on Hobbylobby.com. I loved how they looked over burlap!
Table #2 centerpiece, hedgehog style! Hedgehog stuffy from Hobby Lobby, book from Homesense Canada.
My mama has become a diaper cake pro! We loved how well this cake turned out (fox toy via Target).
These mini trees were scored on eBay & actually used for the mama-to-be's bachelorette party as well :)
Loved the idea of using this nursery decor item as decor for the shower (string art via eBay).
The fireplace was my absolute favorite :)
The larger moss banner I worked long & hard on...I'm so happy it turned out as well as it did!
A little impromptu photo booth using these masks, it was a lot of fun (masks via Hobby Lobby) :)
Mini croissants & homemade chicken salad (we used cupcake toppers for an added touch of decor).
Mini bowls of 'forrest berries'
A last minute moss banner with 'grub' hung above the cake :)
Burlap, ribbon, & animal stickers on mini water bottles (ribbon & stickers: hobby lobby)
Found these socks on F21 & couldn't resist! We gave a pair out for game winning prizes as well :)
Squirrel & Hedgehog socks for the grandmas, mom-to-be, & moi :)
My mom saved the button from the gender reveal to include on the present...she's too cute!

Happy Weekend :)
